Union Hospital's Laboratory is an essential diagnostic resource for our physicians. Our state-of-the-art instruments enable staff to perform hundreds of thousands of tests each year. The Laboratory is staffed by board-certified pathologists and registered technologists.
Outpatient Lab Testing
The Outpatient Lab testing service is one of the busiest areas of the hospital. Hundreds of patients come each week for blood draws, to drop off specimens or for other Outpatient Lab test procedures.
Patient Registration and the Outpatient Lab Draw area is located inside the hospital’s Main Entrance. Unless you are a Lab Regular or coming for pre-op testing, there is no appointment or pre-registration required.

Every effort is made to complete each patient’s lab work in a timely manner while ensuring accuracy and quality. While each day is different, patients coming for outpatient lab work may want to consider arriving after noon, since mornings are usually the busiest time of the day.
To avoid unnecessary delays, please:
- Bring your doctor’s order with the diagnosis as required
- Have your insurance card with you
- Take advantage of phone-in scheduling and pre-registration if you’re a Lab Regular
Lab Regular
In order to make it more convenient for our patients, Union Hospital will provide phone-in scheduling and pre-registration for existing patients with standing orders. Phone-in scheduling and pre-registration is available only after the patient’s first visit.
Blood Donations
Union Hospital partners with Vitalant - Ohio to provide blood and blood products for hospital patients. Union and Vitalant - Ohio also depend on the generous donations of blood from our community. Vitalant - Ohio hosts numerous blood donation events around the Tuscarawas Valley each month, including stops right here at Union Hospital.
