Dedicated to Your Safety

As an essential healthcare provider, Cleveland Clinic Canada remains open for care during Ontario’s COVID-19 restrictions. We also continue to offer virtual care as a convenient option for our patients. The safety of our patients and caregivers remains our top priority. We want to assure patients our Cleveland Clinic facilities are safe for them to receive care. We have taken the following steps:

  • All our caregivers, patients and permitted visitors will be screened for potential COVID-19 symptoms.
  • We require all caregivers to wear medical grade face masks in areas where personal protective equipment (PPE) is not required.
  • All patients and permitted visitors must wear medical grade face masks at our clinic. These masks will be provided to patients at our front desks. Given the current state of the pandemic and what we know about how the virus is transmitted, we are unable to make exceptions to this practice. We are happy to offer virtual appointments for those who feel they cannot tolerate a mask.*
  • Clear barriers installed at all check-in and payment stations.
  • Waiting room adjustments and patient schedule modifications to allow for physical distancing.
  • Enhanced cleaning protocols have been implemented by our on-site cleaning teams. Extra attention will be given to high-touch surfaces like doorknobs, elevator buttons, waiting room chairs and credit card machines. In addition, all patient areas are cleaned and disinfected before and after every use.
  • We have limited the number of visitors to our facilities.

*Please note: We adhere to the guidelines set by the Canadian Thoracic Society regarding the use of face masks by the public during the pandemic. Their group of experts in respiratory medicine has concluded that there is NO evidence that wearing a face mask will exacerbate (cause a ‘flare-up’ of) an underlying lung condition. Frequently Asked Questions

How many confirmed cases of COVID-19 are being diagnosed across the country?

You can view Canada’s status and case progression amidst the COVID-19 pandemic via our daily dashboard at the link below. Using publicly available data from the Canadian government and public health sources, we provide a visualization of how each province is trending across core metrics including cases, deaths and testing. Based on provincial metrics such as new cases, active cases/ 100,000 and testing positivity, we provide an overall indicator (green/ yellow/ red) that helps signal how each province is trending holistically.

Please note: This dashboard is best viewed via a web-based browser (not Internet Explorer). The dashboard is intended to be used in conjunction with a clinician advisor to appropriately assess data and provide tailored insights. Also of note, while data is updated on a regular basis, it is subject to public availability with consideration that some provinces may not update numbers daily. If you are a corporation interested in applying this tool to your own business to support enterprise decision-making, please reach out to our team at advisoryservices@ccf.org.

How are you screening patients?

Patients will be pre-screened at the time of booking, during a pre-visit reminder call, if applicable, and upon arrival at one of our locations. The screening questions are adapted from the Public Health recommendations as well as guidelines from our global healthcare organization:

  1. Do you have a fever (temperature of equal to or higher than 38C/100.4 F)?
  2. Do you have any new/worsening symptoms, including cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, hoarse voice, runny nose, stuffy or congested nose (different than your typical allergy symptoms that respond to anti-histamines), lost sense of taste or smell, digestive issues (such as nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain), fatigue, falling down more than usual, chills, headache (unusual or long-lasting)?
  3. Have you or anyone you have been in close contact with tested positive for COVID-19, or have pending test results for COVID-19?
  4. Are you in close contact with a person who is sick with new respiratory symptoms (like fever, cough, difficulty breathing) or who recently travelled outside of Canada?
  5. Have you travelled outside of Canada within the last 14 days?

All our caregivers, patients and permitted visitors will be screened for potential COVID-19 symptoms.

Do I need to wear a mask?

As we learn more about COVID-19 and its transmission, we are adapting our practices in order to provide the safest care to our patients and protect our caregivers. We are requiring all caregivers in all our locations to wear medical grade face masks in areas where personal protective equipment (PPE) is not required.

All Cleveland Clinic Canada patients will be required to wear medical grade face masks while in the clinic. These masks will be provided to patients at our front desks.

What if I arrive late for my appointment?

Patient schedules have specifically been designed to ensure that patients are not overlapping at the entrance and in waiting areas. Therefore, to maximize safety for all patients and caregivers, patients must arrive on time for their appointment. Patients who arrive late may not be able to be accommodated. A patient service ambassador will be on-site to assist and help with rescheduling if necessary.

Can I bring someone with me?

In an effort to limit the number of individuals in our clinic, we are requesting patients do not bring guests with them to their appointments. However, exceptions will be made for individuals under the age of 18, patients with a disability who require a visitor for support, or patients whose provider has asked they bring a responsible adult to their appointment or procedure. In those cases, permitted visitors will undergo screening and will be required to wear a mask.

Will the elevators be running?

Yes. At our Midtown location, the elevators are running. Only two people are allowed on the elevator at once. Patients are asked to wait in their car or outside of the building until five minutes before their appointment.

At our Downtown location, the elevators are accessible to the 30th floor. Only four people will be allowed in the elevator at one time. Patients are asked to wait in the lobby of Brookfield Place until five minutes prior to their appointment.

How do I pay?

We encourage all patients to provide their credit card information at the time of scheduling. This information will be entered into a secured payment platform which allows for automatic payment when an appointment is completed. If a patient prefers to pay in person this is available at the clinics.

Where do I park?

For patients coming downtown: Our downtown location Cleveland Clinic Canada offers convenient, underground parking at the Brookfield Place parking garage ($32 per day) or various Green P parking lots in the area (costs vary from $1.50 - $4 per hour).
