Overview
At Cleveland Clinic, we have a strong history of leadership in the wellness sphere. We have New York Times best-selling author and wellness authority in Michael Roizen, MD, Emeritus Chief Wellness Officer, and we've established the Department of Wellness and Preventive Medicine, responsible for implementing wide-reaching wellness programs that aggressively advocate healthy living and remove possible barriers to this end.
As one of the world's most respected academic medical centers, we see first hand the consequences of certain preventable conditions and their effects on the healthcare system. Cleveland Clinic's Department of Wellness and Preventive Medicine is comprised of the Center for Integrative Medicine and the Center for Lifestyle Medicine. We are dedicated to helping our patients, our community members, and our employees achieve optimal well-being and a high quality of life. We do this by combining world-class medical care and quality wellness programs to change unhealthy behaviors and to make healthy life choices.
Research
The Wellness Institute at Cleveland Clinic directs research studies designed to help with the prevention and treatment of lifestyle-related chronic diseases. Current areas of focus include pre-diabetes, overweight and obesity, diabetes, psychosocial stress, and insomnia. Current studies aim to understand the effect of behavioral modification programs or web-based interventions on these disease states.
Clinical Research
Current research programs involve randomized clinical trials studying the effect of web-based programs to assist with healthy eating and weight loss, psychosocial stress, and insomnia. We are also involved with research into integrative medical approaches to weight loss.
